What if the person was after the mother and knowing the son was going to be there too gave them the perfect cover story with the whole Mallory incident? It's basically the perfect "motive" for the police to investigate and they'd find nothing since it had nothing to do with the real motive.

They can still sue the estate and win a successful case. It's definitely not over for them especially if the lawsuit was filed before their deaths.

@mad7fisher Yeah true. It sounds like they had a lot of enemies between everyone in the family. Plenty of motives for speculations.

It's also the perfect cover story. Whoever did it could have foreseen it, especially a professional hit. It would throw the police investigation off course because they'd spend time trying to figure out the connection between the Mallory Beach's family and wouldn't find anything and by the time they start the investigation from the start evidence and witnesses would be long forgotten.

@LuckyStar-k9c Well no, but very rarely a civil suite involves anything outside of money or division of property. The criminal portion is already done but the civil courts can only decide on money so the idea is you make a harmful impact on their income to compensate for the loss of life. Since the person is dead, the estate would have to pay out a large portion of it to the plaintiffs. Basically there is no way in a civil or even a criminal court to force someone to apologize for something. You either have to pay a fine, go to prison, or face a civil lawsuit where you pay money.

@LuckyStar-k9c Isn't that true before? From what I understand the kid only way out was that he had an influential parent that allowed him to get off criminal charges. So I'm not sure what changed? Him being dead is irrelevant since he never applied.

@LuckyStar-k9c how so? He doesn’t make any money and relies on his parents income. If he has to “pay” some thing it’s a sure bet mom and dad would cover it. No court in this world would force only you to pay for something. So no he won’t be held accountable. The fact he was killed is the only accountability he had in his entire life.
