  2. I can't believe he brought a date to his wife's funeral. That's horrible! Almost 90% of the people he beat up and killed in this movie are completely innocent of whatever he did. Plus him being a Yale professor, I mean wouldn't they fire him for not coming to work?

  3. Plus you ever notice how in each of the film, he never figures out the bad guys. He already knows who they are, where they are, and what they're planning to do and he's always there no matter what even in films where he's trying to solve a mystery or finding out who killed someone he knows. He already knows who it is and at the end of the film, he somehow already knows who it is despite never showing how he knows.

  6. I have this movie! I think it's Seagal's attempt to rip off that movie with Dustin Hoffman where a disease comes to a small town and they have to figure out the cure in time. The only problem is that Seagal isn't "figuring it out" but rather he already knows EVERYTHING before the movie even starts and he knows EVERYONE involved and who they are and what they did and he explains it to each person and they're all acting surprised and dumbfounded that he figured it all out.

  7.  @classicgameplay10  yes it has some strict requirements at Yale. They require that you go on an international crime spree with the DEA and Hong Kong police. They also require that you have a questionable past involving smuggling things. It’s also totally understandable that your house got blown up and wife died and you bring this hot date to her funeral.

  9. I feel like that scene where they’re in the room where Seagal fell asleep is a real scene but they edited out what it was for. This was the actors and actresses first day on the set and they just discovered they were casted for a Seagal movie and many of them sobbed as they realize they’ve been lied to and their careers over before it even started.

Like in RE1, your helicopter left, and you're suddenly attacked in the woods, and you go into a mansion and your first instinct is to solve all these puzzles mixed in with zombies and bioweapons gone wrong? I mean like why try to solve the water fountain puzzle when you can literally hop the fence?

  12. If you think about it, even though the people ran a criminal enterprise, at the end of the day they had nothing to do with Seagal until Seagal decided to steal their money. At that point, it would make sense, despite that they probably got the money illegally, that they would try to retrieve it. Therefore, morally speaking, Seagal caused more death and mayhem all due to his own actions by stealing the money. Had he not done that, the entire movie would not exist and everyone would continue on as they were.

  15. The thing is the entire movie is his own doing. At the start of the film, he's on a mission to kill some arms dealer and this terrorist leader. The mission leaders decide that since the two are in a building, it's easy for them to launch a drone and be able to kill them both. Seagal, for some reason, decides this is a no go because according to him there are innocents in the building. So what does Seagal do? He blasts open the door, and runs back and forth between the door shooting randomly into the building scaring everyone. The two leaders, now knowing there is something going on, runs off in their car. Seagal manages to shoot one but the main villain of the movie runs off still. Seagal, now tries to run away from his mistake but decides to pick up this little girl for no reason. So Seagal anyway managed to get all the innocents killed and on top of that caused the bad guys to escape. Then he goes on a worldwide murder rampage where he decides to get the leader, he has to kill everyone for reasons unclear when he could have simply set up the meeting at the start and meet the bad guy.

  16. - Whenever Seagal is in a team, no one knows what they're doing and all rely or look at him for instructions. - Women half his age just go up to him immediately and falls in love and flirts nonstop. - Seagal never goes up to a person to fight instead they come up to him doing this strange slapping thing where they're leaning backwards a little to not get hit in the face as they're doing this slapping thing. - CIA, DEA, FBI, FAA, FTC, etc all have ultimate authority in some random country. Whenever he's CIA working undercover it makes no sense cause nothing he does is a direct treat to America.

  18. According to imdb, this is the only Seagal DTV appearance where he appeared for 90% of his scenes. Also the director agreed to direct only under the condition that Seagal stayed on set until he was told to leave. This caused a lot of frictions where Seagal didn't show up for a couple of days and they had to shut down production. The director never wanted to work with Seagal again but this is the only DTV Seagal film where he appears for most of his scenes. As you know it's very common for Seagal to use a body double for his scenes. Also of interest, Seagal did not like the actress in this film and even made her cry a couple of times off camera during the making of the film. Very interesting as this is one of Seagal's highest rated DTV film compared to the rest of his career.

  20. No, you're not telling the whole truth here. The company suddenly pulled the plug on the movie and cut off their funding. They basically took what they had and placed in archive videos to fill in the missing parts. So it came out as an incoherent mess. The thing is Seagal wasn't the main star in this movie but I think the final cut of it they wanted him to be the star. It's supposed to be about Tom Sizemore. The director ultimately released an "unofficial" version of the film that is somewhat aligned with what he originally thought of the movie.

  23. I think it's one of those things that Seagal didn't really sit down and think clearly. What he's thinking of is the backwash from an RPG that could in theory throw someone off balance if they're standing behind it. Realistically they wouldn't fly back but rather be seriously injured or knocked over depending. The person shooting it wouldn't move because from a physic standpoint it makes no sense because there is no force acting on them. With Seagal getting quotes wrong all the time ("I wasn't born on a turnip truck" and "I'll snatch every mfing birthday.", etc), I wouldn't be surprised he gets weapons wrong from time to time.

  24. I felt sorry for Lee Ermey though. I remember seeing this movie new and I always thought he was joking during the scene where he was describing Segal being the ultimate fighter. Me and my friend Robby at the time would always talk like that while playing Golden Eye on the n64 and laughing so hard. It seems like Segal took him serious enough that he stayed in character even to this day.

  25. I’m just imagining the sort of internal dialogue Seagal must have had while writing that line. I imagine he thinks people are sitting around poking fun people who never crash airplanes like, “hahaha I’ve been flying planes for 40 years and had 20 crashes. You never had one! Do you want to live forever hahahaha.” And everyone giving him a hard time about it like he’s not in a special club or something. I imagine Seagal chuckled as he wrote that.

  29.  @liamphillips4370  Yeah, it would apply to probably a vast majority of people who decide to fly a plane. I feel like this is a missed clue in the movie on how Seagal was able to pick up on the fact that he had something to do with his wife's death or whatever. As a Yale professor, he probably immediately knew something was up with a name as dumb as that. It's like meeting a drug dealer named OD cause he never did and you'd immediately get your suspicion radar going if something happened like your house burnt down suddenly. And even dumber the guy lets you in on lessons as a pilot knowing that he had a major role in his wife's death. Seagal probably thought, as a Yale professor, nobody can be that dumb.

In a lot of Seagal's films, they have a baseline story but as it unfolds, none of the characters seem to really have any sort of consistent story and oftentimes major characters or plot points are revealed and you're not sure if it is significant or not. It causes you to not care about the characters, the plots, or anything. You just "assume" that Seagal is the good guy and that he's working with the best intention of everyone but it is unclear and unestablished. It's basically a "trust me, bro this is bad and I'm making it right" plot.

  31. I’m very surprised main stream media didn’t pick up on how disturbing this film is. Matter of fact I would say it even paints Seagal as a seriously questionable child predator. First he writes coded messages to a 13 year old girl for reasons unclear and then he pretends to care about her and sends coded messages and even burns them them authorities come in. That’s easily explained that he was under good intentions but what makes it even more disturbing is how he later goes to a brothel and pretends to be interested in her. Keep in mind other girls at this brothel are in the same circumstances as the 13 years old girl he’s only trying to help. Like his other films where he ignores or kills innocent people he takes it to the extreme with this film.

The main villain was talking about how he'll be 90 in prison and he won't have women there and Seagal mentioned he knew someone inside the prison he'd like him to meet. Also Seagal quickly switched between the EPA, and then to the FBI.

  42. His entire role in this movie is confusing as his horrible ability to be a good assassin. First, it seems like the "I bet your pardon" people, who are CIA I assume, hired him at the start who was looking for the package. Somehow, Pete found the package, had it in his hands, and instead of just running away with it somehow gave it to Seagal. At the end of the movie, despite the fact the guy who they were delivering the package to is shot by Pete himself, he still wants the package. The package contains information about the guy he shot who shot down a plane carrying his wife's lover which again was not figured out by anyone but Seagal who knew his name that was never mentioned by anyone else in the film. Overall Pete's role was never explained, he kept getting killed for no reason, and the three times he came across the package that he seems to want, he didn't even tried to walk away with it. I honestly don't think when Seagal wrote this movie he meant for Pete to be killed off so many times. I think instead Seagal completely forgot he killed him and had him re-killed and the director and Pete were probably both trying to explain to Seagal about it but he probably protested by running off to his trailer.

  43. It's a common theme among all of Steve's movies. He goes into some place, causes death, mayhem and destruction, then at the final moment of the movie, it's revealed he did it all for nothing and the entire movie could have been concluded in the first few minutes had he just done what he did at the end.

  44. I am watching his show lawman and they have an episode where he adopted a Louisiana accent like he’s a Cajun. He switches between normal voice and this weird accent sometimes mid sentence. It reminded me of this comment and this movie. Lol

  45. It’s not a partner but someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing and completely incompetent but yet Sensei Seagal is schooling them on the ways of brutality. The funny thing is most of the time the other actors are more serious and professional looking than Seagal.

  46. I just watched the film myself. The entire plot revolves around Seagal and his lady pal. It seems like everyone owes him a favor because earlier he beat up someone for them like he’s in 2nd grade or something. Also the woman he’s protecting is falling for him and wants him to love her because she senses something profound about him. His fascination about this bodyguard-client relationship goes so deep that it ignores everything wrong with the overall plot of someone trying to kidnap her for a uranium mine.

  47. If you care to watch the actual film, you'll be left just as confused as to what the storyline is. I have started to watch a lot of Seagal's films and many of them do not have a coherent story. Some of them are.... okay... but they have an overall incoherent plot where oftentimes suddenly something major happens and constant twists inside of twists. It usually makes the characters completely different from what they started off as oftentimes making no sense.

  49. Yeah I imagine him on set thinking he's blowing everyone's mind away at how awesome and talented he is. I also believe that while playing out these scenes, in his mind, everyone is like sitting there taking notes and carefully studying his moves and what he's saying.
