I heard Seagal trains the Russian military on gun handling. It’s always his dream to be teaching soldiers how to shoot.

I read that he brought his own things in. I think what happened was Seagal was worried he wouldn't fit into any of the props so he brought his own stuff and made up the thing about it being tactical just so he won't have to say the weight thing. You can see a lot of the gear is not even snapped in or adjusted to fit him mainly because he put it on himself and was unable to reach the straps or buckles. He insisted that he put it on himself and no one was allowed to touch his stuff.

I watched the film, unfortunately. The movie made little sense. I think what they were going for was Seagal was a sniper who got left behind when they had to evacuate after an ambush and I think when they all got back to the base, they wanted to go back in and came up with the hostage switch. Again, it's very unclear as each of the characters are all switched up and on top of that Seagal knows everything despite being left behind and even can hear the plan they discuss back at the base miles away. It's basically a movie where Seagal sits down and waits for I guess them to rescue him but then the inverse happens where he rescues them from rescuing him.

The funny thing he’s up in this tower where he can see everything going on, even back at base, and can hear everyone’s plans and can snipe anyone.

Actually no because if Seagal gets injured, that poor guy would have to deadlift like 400+ pounds. They'd have to bring in the stunt double for the stairway scene.

I always thought it was because he can't tilt his head. If you look at it very closely, he's lining up the sight to his eyes but he never tilts his head. If you ever seen a very large person try to shoot, they tend to look very awkward as they tilt their head to the side. I'm guessing off screen Seagal tried various methods and decided on this to look sort of professional. I've seen in other films he has a riser on his rifle that's intended for night vision gear but it levels perfectly with Seagal's larger frame and inability to tilt his head. Or he could you know, act, and simply pretend like his aiming instead of actually aiming which doesn't make sense.

@xdemon5015 you're correct. I've been shooting for the past 20+ years of my life and go the range about once or twice a week. I've seen a lot of different body types but those that are very tall or large tend to have a hard time shouldering the rifle, and having sight alignment. They have to bob their head in this very uncomfortable position if they shoulder their rifle properly. So what I see them oftentimes do is hold the rifle as far out as they can to have the alignment. My thought is that they need to get a higher mounted sight on their rifle. I've seen Seagal in one film earlier where he was using a riser, usually for night vision equipment, but he looked fairly decent holding the rifle and shooting. In this movie, he was using a very low mounted RMR that even for a normal sized man it would be hard to align and shoulder. It does beg the question why would he need to actually AIM when he's in a movie? Why does he have to try to "aim" to be "professional."
