The constitution is about protecting those accused of a crime from a lynch mob setting. It wasn't made to prevent criminals from being punished for their crimes. That fact seems lost in our modern world. I do think that in the future, people will take matters into their own hand as they'll find going to the police or court just doesn't work or bring the justice they deserve. There needs to be a radical shift in how our DA pursue charges and how sentences are handed down fairly for the crimes committed. Letting someone essentially walk away after doing such a serious crime is really injustice and in shape or form what our forefathers would have thought would happen.

@keithhowell4138 the car was still operational and considered a deadly weapon while it is in motion. Plus, even in states like CA, they have a pretty strong castle doctrine and it is nearly impossible to successfully convict someone defending themselves within the space of their own property. I haven't heard of a single state where someone defending himself while on his property and got convicted. If you have any source or proof, I'd be more than happy to hear.

I wonder if the owner of the home being remodeled asked them to come back to work?

Yeah, our forefathers wrote it in a way to bring justice fairly so that both parties can speak before a sentence is carried out. It was designed to protect those falsely accused of a crime rather than protecting criminals from any sort of punishment.

You can’t lock someone up for what they may do. There are plenty of dui people who never do it again after the first time. It’s not a fun game to spend a month in jail or have your license revoked for a while.

@fritzmiller9792 duty to retreat applies to situations outside of your home. Castle doctrine overrides most duty to retreat clauses as your home is considered where you would be the safest.

I wonder what the cancel rate is after these kind of events? I know at my gym a trainer ended himself after his mother passed away and it caused a lot of members to leave.
