  1. Probably what happened was she took the guns out for a range day, and somehow the ammo got mixed in. That's my guess because a few times they all went out and shot the guns.

  2. I also want to make it clear that even blanks are deadly at close range. Given how close they were shooting, even accidentally loading blanks can cause a death. So her not checking the firearms is at fault, even if blanks or real ammunition are loaded. Alec is at fault too because he told her not to check firearms that day because it was wasting too much time.
