Gary Proudfoot I know the story.  It's not really "both sides".  If you are looking at the political parties as they are today it is the Republicans who have discrimination written into their platform.  The Democratic party went through a major shift in the late 40s.  To pretend that either party is what it was when it was founded is just naive.
