  3. "it" isn't a single plant, it's a population of plants. She dug one of them. They grow from rhizomes, meaning they can be replanted and be just fine.

  4. I've worked with a lot of botanists over the last 20 years, never seen one kill a plant population to identify it. Hundreds of surveys with numerous botanists.

  12.  @RichardFoster-v6r  I highly doubt it was a single isolated plant. More likely it was part of a population of plants. One doesn't often find one single isolated plant of any one species, all by itself.
