What state is that? California has one of the lowest rates of gun violence in America. It also has the highest population so it appears we have more violence than smaller states
7
Hey ted where do you live? I bet it sucks. Texas? Alabama? Sad
6
or any other city with millions of residents. How many were killed in Atlanta or Detroit or Houston last year?
3
murder is already illegal. Laws dont stop people from murder
3
@rhuttrho88 I sound stupid because I know math and am familiar with national gun violence statistics? Sorry I offended you with facts. I'm all for 2A rights, no need for a bodyguard. Rebut me with facts, not insults, if you have any. Insulting strangers is what children do before they know better
2
@DUCKSAREEVILLLLLLLL yes, and California has the highest population of all the states. Highest population, highest numbers. Gotta look at the per capita rates
2
it's normal for America. There are 42 states ahead of California on the "gun violence rates by state" chart. We have one of the lowest rates in the nation.
2
Nothing that doesn't happen anywhere else. This state has one of the lowest gun violence rates in America, actually. Take a look at Texas if you want to see some violence
1
And the rest of America. California has one of the lowest rates of gun violence in the country
1
@climbnride58 8th lowest gun violence rate in America. Texas has like twice as many murders as California
1
One of the lowest rates of gun violence in the country. Just a big population so it seems like more
1
@Ambera3407 we'll see, but I've noticed an increase in violent crime across the country over the last year or two. As of now we're about 8 out of 50
1
@christopherkirby2661 I know, the idea that California has more violence than other states is laughable
1
@DUCKSAREEVILLLLLLLL just checked the per capita stats. California is nowhere near the top of the "most mass shootings" list. Probably number 30 or something out of 50. Thanks for the reminder
1
@DUCKSAREEVILLLLLLLL So, your point is that Republican states have a much higher suicide rate than Democratic states? Interesting point. My last comment specifically applied to "mass shootings", not just gun violence generally.
1
@DUCKSAREEVILLLLLLLL Over what time period are you referring? The statistics I saw did not indicate any such thing.
1
@DUCKSAREEVILLLLLLLL that statista chart lists the number of massacres in numerical order without regard to population of the state. Thus, of course California is at the top of the list, it's got the highest population. Look at PER CAPITA rates if you want to compare states. No California isn't the lowest, it's around #30 on the list.
1
@DUCKSAREEVILLLLLLLL yes yes, I know, I saw that list. California is at the top of that list mainly because it has the highest population of all 50 US states. Look up the term per capita.
1
@DUCKSAREEVILLLLLLLL No, that Statista chart lists the absolute numbers of massacres, not "per capita". I'm not convinced you know what the term per capita means. use a dictionary
1
@DUCKSAREEVILLLLLLLL Take a look at charts of gun violence across the 50 states. Republican states lead all the lists. The more democratic/liberal a state is, the lower it is on the chart. The more red states all lead the list. this isnt rocket science. Having more guns around leads to more gun violence.
1
@DUCKSAREEVILLLLLLLL Here's another graphic you could examine. Look at the "worldpolulationreview" 2017 death rate, gun deaths per 100,000 people. States with lax gun laws all lead the chart. States with strict gun laws have far less gun violence. Every other chart or graphic on the internet has the same information.
1
@DUCKSAREEVILLLLLLLL Right, I see you may have been right specifically about the mass shootings. Take Los Angeles county out of that list however and it would be a different story. The homicide rate for the state of texas is about 25% higher than in California. CDC reports 2,212 homicides in Texas last year and 2,368, giving relative per-capita ratings of 7.6 and 6.1. Comes down to, neither state has a great rating but both are far from the worst.
1
@DUCKSAREEVILLLLLLLL there aren't any republican cities that big in the nation. The biggest republican city in America is Jacksonville Florida.
1
@DUCKSAREEVILLLLLLLL yeah again, al the largest cities in the nation are ran by Democrats. There isn't one city in America ran by Republicans with over a million residents. Every single city in the country with a million residents or more is ran by Democrats. I guess Republicans aren't capable of managing a city larger than Jacksonville Florida.
1
@DUCKSAREEVILLLLLLLL meanwhile you should take a look at the list of states with the highest rates of gun violence. The more red the state is, the higher on the list it is. The more blue states are lower on the list. Direct correlation.
1
@DUCKSAREEVILLLLLLLL I just looked up the list of cities with the highest murder rates. St. Louis, Baltimore, new Orleans, Detroit, Cleveland, las Vegas, Kansas City, Memphis, Newark and Chicago top the list. No cities in California even made the top 10. They all have one thing in common:high population. Republican and Democrat.
1
@DUCKSAREEVILLLLLLLL Cleveland at #5 and Memphis at #8 on that list, both with republican mayors. The rest however are democrat-run I think, at least in the top 10. Trust me, I'm all for 2A rights.
1
One of the lowest rates of gun violence in America. Check the ratings
1
Normal day in America. This state has among the lowest rates of gun violence in the country
1
One of the lowest rates of gun violin the nation, actually. Republican states all lead that list
1
20 million people in Los Angeles county alone. How long before house prices come back down? We could stand for some depopulation
1
@kaophan1098 again, as with every huge mega-city in the nation. There arent any cities this size in the nation without welfare bums, thieves and deadbeats. California also has the nations highest GDP, contributes almost twice as much to federal coffers than Texas, which is next on the list
1
@A77-c5h So your point is, Republican states have much much higher suicide rates than Democratic states? Interesting point.
1
@A77-c5h Yes, those rates are a lot lower for the rest of California as well. That's exactly my point. Los Angeles has 3.8 million residents and another 16 million residents live in the county. There isn't a single Republican city in the country with a million residents, let alone one with a megatropolis this size. Siskiyou County is a long way from LA. Ever hear about Siskiyou County in the news? probably not. Just look at the state-by-state breakdown, there's lots of information out there.
