Basically, Hungary wants all the benefits of EU membership without any of the democratic obligations that go along with it.

@BazsiHHH It still sounds like you all want the economic benefits of EU membership, while thinking you all are exempt from the obligations that apply to every other EU country. It doesn't help that Hungary is so chummy with Putin.

@prometheusjackson8787 LGBT rights aren't part of the EU charter. Only gullible Hungarians who watch state media think that is the main issue. I swear you sound like the Russians who think Ukraine conflict is about Nazis and that Russia is being sanctioned because the West supports Nazis. The current government is reversing EU requirements like fair elections, free press, independent judges, EU supremacy, ect. That is why the country is sanctioned.

@prometheusjackson8787 That is a lot coming from you who is only able to bring up red herrings issues and dismisses my points by stereotyping me as a liberal 🤮. Ideologically, I actually prefer Orban over the socialists 🤮, but the rule of law and democratic norms are more important than the left-right divide. It amazes me how Europeans don't agree after all the fascists in the 1930s who overthrew the democratic governments with popular support.

@RoScFan So supporting fair elections, free press, and an independent judicial system are "too woke" for you? I guess it okay for the far right to justify government corruption and autocracy as long you fight against the liberals. Just don't forget how Mussolini, Franco, and Hitler had popular support to keep the Communist out of power.
