@timonsolus That is one of many theories. Putin is closed off and acting irrational, so one can only guess at his thinking.

@Joe King You know that Putin has been in power for decades? Putin has been attacking Ukraine ever since they were seeking a trade deal with the EU. He knows that Russia is too corrupt to compete with the EU, so he has been using violence to keep eastern Europe in his orbit.
