We noticed it based on the swings between left-right ideologies. It isn't that unique in Western democracies. Political instability in a democracy is usually only an issue when you have democratic leaders dismantling democratic institutions and norms like Orban, Duterte, Erdoğan, and Trump, or if the democracies break down into ethnic patron systems like in Lebanon, Iraq, and India.

@robinphilip2294 If N Korea launched nukes, the US would turn Pyongyang into radioactive glass. There is no way the Kim family would ever survive an invasion of the South, and the Kim family's survival and wealth are the most important priorities to the regime.
