How union wages work: *There are raises for long term employees *Entry wages will almost never go up *It is a contract violation to pay on performance *Everyone pays into the pension, but only long-term employees benefit Basically, the company compensation is more, but it only goes to a select few older workers at the expense of newer, more productive employees.

Amazon pays unskilled and uneducated workers an average of $21/hour. Can they really not live off that? That is about $43,680/year. I didn't make much more than that out of college only 4 years ago, and they don't have student loans. I would piss in a bottle to not have debt.

@steveconrad1525 ...and they are paid accordingly. They could get an easier job at a retailer, but it won't pay as well. It seems like these complainers want the high pay, but don't like the expectation that they have to preform.

@MrAwsomeshot The "poor" have cell phones, cars, televisions, est. Also, can someone explain why there is an obesity problem among food stamp recipients?

@MrAwsomeshot I don't think the middle is very educated on health either. They think they are, but giving up gluten and swallowing dozens of supplements doesn't really improve one's health like the "health" blogs say they do.

@BlitzkriegOmega First $15/hour was needed for a liveable wage and now you are telling me $17/hour is too low? Is $25/hour is too low next? It's high pay for hard work. If you want an easier job then find one that pays less or go back to school. Loans are available and online courses are convenient. Amazon will even help their employees pay for school.

@un-trackable5705 McDonald's are local businesses. Good what a franchise is.

@un-trackable5705 Your local business that you idolized are equally money grabbing, because those that aren't go out of business. In addition, small businesses tend to pay less and offer less benefits to their employees. Lastly, if people didn't like the McDonald's, then people would stop going there.
