We are 1112 days into Putin's 3-day special military operation. We are 1129 hours into Trump's "Day one" peace deal.

To be fair, a ceasefire would give Ukraine time to fortify the frontline and mobilize more soldiers. It is the same reason that Russia offered a ceasefire years back when the Ukrainians were advancing. If Trump actually wants the war to stop, then he needs to send Ukraine enough firepower to prevent Russia from advancing without sending enough weapons for Ukraine to launch a counter-offensive. Peace talks only really work when the frontlines stabilize.

@josephkush1032 Lukashenko and a dozen "experts" on Russian State Media said Kiev would fall in 2-4 days.

@asanders7608 It's the type of equipment. Artillery will make a Russian advance difficult, while mine clearly equipment and other specialized is needed to advance.

@KandiMan The Soviet Union controlled 80% of Afghanistan until they all left. Russia only holds 20% of Ukraine.

@Ramirez83786 Russia literally can't afford to recruit more men. The high causalities and 2% unemployment rate make the hazard pay and sign on bonuses exponentially higher in every recruitment drive. Things would be different if Putin would call a mobilization, but he seems terrified of what the public would do if he did.

The reason would be that they want to save Russian lives. Obviously, that was just lip service from the Kremlin.

@Owlmare At the rate of Russian advance, Putin will be Kiev in 87 years.

@kaiwren2604 War? Directly to jail. This is a special military operation.

@johnwray393 You are right. I'm sure the plan all along was for this "special military operation" was to take five years and cost hundreds of Russian causalities, sacrifice Russia's economic future, and pending stagflation.

@Ramirez83786 The Soviet Union controlled 80% of Afghanistan when they said they were winning. Meanwhile, Russia gets the same amounts of causalities in Ukraine every week as the Soviets did in a decade-long conflict.

@stunningandbased5516 Putin did offer a ceasefire without stipulations in 2022, but that was because he was trying to get Ukraine to agree to stop advancing in order to buy Russia more time to fortify the frontline and deal with Russia's manpower shortage. Obviously, Putin didn't plan to honor the ceasefire once he got enough soldiers to the frontline, so the ceasefire offer was ignored by all parties.
