@MrToradragon The US isn't the only country thar has a bicameral legislature that has a body divided by population and a body where each county gets an equal number of votes.

@RemziCavdar You are proving my point. Your anti-American bigotry is causing you to dismiss America's separations of power without even addressing the merit of the idea.

@billyfugate4823 People dislike American politics because each side struggles to force their agenda on the other side. This is actually a feature and not a bug. If 60% of the country can't agree on a law or policy or at least can't come to a compromise, then it shouldn't be exacted. The fact that everyone is unhappy is a good thing.

European prejudices will make sure they avoid any system that looks too American even if the ideas would fix many EU issues.

@paul1979uk2000 The point is to prevent anything from passing unless it is widely popular or full of compromises. A simple majority in population or simple majority of states shouldn't be able to force their agenda on the rest of the country. The founding fathers called it the tyranny of the majority. Both Democrats and Republicans complain about the system until they are the minority power in government.

The US system operates as a bicameral legislature where laws have to pass both a lower body that has power divided by the total population and an upper body that has power divided equally among the states. This system has worked pretty well at sharing power between big and small states. Of course, European prejudices will fear any system that looks American.

@Darian___ 40% of democracies have two chambers, but not all of them are equal, such as the British Parliament, and none of them operate as a federation as large as the US.

@RemziCavdar Yes, because EU bureaucracy is known for effectiveness and transparency. 🙄 Take your bigotry elsewhere.

@chessnut4886 Name a constitution older than America 250 year old constitution. The system works while the French are on their fifth attempt at a Republic.

@FruitLoops_ *San Marino's "constitution" is uncodified and not all of its elements are even considered law. *France is older but their time with Republicanism is much younger and less successful than America. *The rest of your examples aren't even federal systems as their population size smaller than even the metroplex that I live in. Plus, their track record is still less impressive than the legacy of the American constitution.

What about a bicameral legislature that has a body divided by population and a body where each county gets an equal number of votes?

The Chinese people only use phone payment systems because they distrust their banks, while Western consumers prefer credit cards. Apple, Google, Samsung, and a few others built the infrastructure for it, but consumers refuse to adopt it.

An independent command from NATO seems redundant. It would make more sense to further intergate into NATO instead of making a mirror organization that lacks American logistics and intelligence. That being said, the EU should do military procurement as a bloc to avoid redundancies in R&D and to achieve more economy of scale. Unfortunately, I don't see this as possible as long as protectionist countries like France will torpedo any contracts that aren't given to French companies.
