Putin on Chechnya: State unity is more important than self-determination Putin on Donbas: Self-determination is more important than state unity.

@mappingshaman5280 Classic Russian false equivalency. How is Soviet nuclear missles remotely equivalent to HIMARs?
25
@mappingshaman5280 Putin: It is disrespectful for NATO to move missile shields closer to Russia Also Putin: [Moves nukes into Belarus and closer to NATO]

@Silver_Prussian The US won't put nukes in the Poland because it would be an escalation, but they would put nukes in Ukraine because they are eager to escalate? Russia propaganda is so nonsensical.

@aj9969 In the 90s, the majority of Crimean voters joined the rest of Ukraine in voting for leaving the Soviet Union. The last free and fair election in Crimea, the party that ran on joining Russia got less than 4% of the vote. There seems to be a lot of partisan attacks in both Crimea and Dombas. Russian propaganda just likes to blame all the explosion on Russian soldiers smoking.

@vasilijesamardzic4151 Kosovo fought for independence after a genocidal campaign by the Serbs. Meanwhile, Crimea and Dombas were invaded by Russian troops who had their proxies fight for Russia's imperial ambitions.

@aj9969 1991 Ukrainian independence referendum "Yes" vote by region: *Crimean ASSR- 54.19% *Donetsk Oblast- 83.90% *Kharkiv Oblast- 86.33% *Kherson Oblast- 90.13% *Luhansk Oblast- 83.86% *Zaporizhzhia Oblast- 90.66%

@Silver_Prussian if America wanted to station nukes closer to Russia, then why aren't there any in Poland or the Baltic countries?
6
@SjorLovre Considering the Serbs were committing genocide against every non Serb in the region, Kosovo had a legitimate reason to leave. The Dombas separatists taking orders from their Russian Imperial masters don't.

@Sandor7698 Donetsk, Luhansk, and Melitopol were destroyed by Russian artillery, and most of the population was forcefully expelled by the Russian FSB. Meanwhile, partisan attacks are frequent occurrences in Melitopol.
2
@dbohler8640 Chechnya was never a UN regonized country. Meanwhile, not only did the UN agree to regonize Ukraine as a country, Russia itself has signed multiple treaties agreeing to regonize Ukraine's sovereignty and 1991 borders.
2
Chechnya is also a great source for Russian conscripts and mercenary companies to fight against the Ukrainians. I'm sure Russia giving their disgruntled minorities battlefield experience and PTSD won't bite them in the ass later.

@Quickandslick Because Saddam, Assad, Gaddafi, and the Taliban were democratically elected leaders?
1
@aj9969 Your gullibility is impressive. Yanukovych was impeached by a 100% of parliament after he order snipers and machine guns to be used on protesters. While Russians think it is normal for their president to murder political dissidents, most free people don't think murdering ones citizens is a good thing. Also, the Russian language isn't banned. Even the Ukrainian army speaks Russian in addition to Ukrainian.
1
@aj9969 The only neo Nazis in Ukraine are the ones Russians sent into the country. Just look at Wagner, which was named after Hitler's favorite composer by the mercenary company co-founder Dmitry Utkin. Unsurprisingly, Utkin has a SS tattoo on his chest.

@aj9969 All the Crimea explosion of bridges, rail, and ammo dumps are just more Russian smoking breaks. All the Ukrainian flags that keep showing up on radio towers and buildings probably put themselves up.

@SjorLovre Serbia still denies they committed genocide and their politicians still champion Serbian dominance over all ethnic minorities. Does this sound like a realistic setting for Kosovo to give up their sovereignty and territorial defense? Russains love the false equivalency of comparing autonomous Kosovo to Russain proxies holding fake referendums to justify Russain imperialism.

@jant.carlsson5061 I prefer hypocrisy
1
@Sandor7698 22% of Russia's population doesn't identify as ethnic Russian. Maybe Russia should grant them independence instead of suppressing their attempts at autonomy.
1
@Sandor7698 Just watch the clips of the Ukrainian army. Many are speaking Russian and are willing to die for the Ukrainian people -- especially after Russians started murdering Russain-speaking civilians, kidnapping Russian-speaking children, and bombing Russian-speaking cities.
1
@Sandor7698 The Baltics, Ukraine, and Scandinavia are happy to join NATO to protect themselves from genocidal Russians.

@NKVD_Enjoyer Says the Russians. The only people who act like the victims as they bomb hospitals, schools, and grain destined for starving Africans.
