  1. There is a historical revisionism effort to link everything to slavery when that is rarely the case. Slavery was minimal at the time in Texas as most settlers couldn't afford any. It was hardly the greatest grievous of the settlers. Also, you completely disregard the role of Tejanos in the history of Texas.

  2.  Survival prepping for normal people  I lived in Texas my whole life and have traveled everywhere except the El Paso area. Most of the state is empty with some towns of a few thousand people. A vast majority of the state population live in massive metroplexs around Dallas, Houston, and Austin. Again, despite stereotypes, the percentage that lives in rural populations is lower than states like New York.
