@Hypernefelos Ukraine has shown that it takes a huge military stockpile and industrial base to commit a modern war. Turkey and Greece don't have that capacity for a long war without outside support.

A defensive clause is only as good as nations believe it will be enforced. There is very little confidence that Europe would defend it's allies without the US.

The goods news about them both being NATO members is that both sides would quickly be cut off from their weapons supplies as other NATO nations would would try to end the conflict as quickly as possible.

@Flight_of_Icarus The "remilitarization" of Germany has come to nothing as the promised spending has come to nothing as Germany bureaucracy has halted any progress. Meanwhile, Poland doesn't have the military capability to threaten anyone without the backing of Germany and France. Most of Europe sees the likes of Germany and France as the "appeasement wing" of NATO.

@ceoofgreenheartinvestmentf173 Turkey has difficulty fighting the Kurds in Syria and Iraq. You are delusional as the Russians if you think fighting a NATO trained army would be a cake walk. In addition, Turkey lacks the capability to respond to an earthquake or even an inflation crisis of the president's own making. Turkey would collapse if a naval battle scares away the ships that supply Turkey's imports.
