The US Navy actually wants to move to smaller ships, but special interests and legacy ships are getting in the way of the transition.

@markalbert9011 You have it backwards. The Navy wants smaller ships because ships are vulnerable to missles and drones. It better to have multiple smaller targets than being dependent on a few big ships that can lose a battle if a hypersonic missle, a drone, or sub sinks all the considerate assets. That being said, the Chinese Navy's ships are too small to carry enough ammo or fuel to operate far from the Chinese coast.

@altoria-yhy If tonnage is the best metric of navel might, then the New York yacht is the most powerful sea force in the world.

@altoria-yhy Sure. Assuming that the US does nothing in the next 15 years and you ignore the contributions of Japan, Korea, Australia, and the Philippines.
1
@altoria-yhy The large Chinese Navy isn't technologically advanced, and China's technologically advanced navy isn't very large.

@ajaykumarsingh702 I hope President Pooh is paying you well for such nonsense.

@voidtempering8700 Like I said. Special interests. It is the same reason the A-10 won't ever retire.
1
@voidtempering8700 7 years of Navy budget requests until 2021, when special interests won out.

@112313 US stock market is growing. Chinese stock market is down 40%.

China also doesn't have to build a global navy like the US. They only need enough to dominate one region.0
