@Hurricayne92 If the US is so corrupt why do so many Chinese companies prefer to list on the US stock market and use American banks?
127
@Jason-gg4lm Not really. Corruption is more of a system of autocratic governments than Chinese culture. Taiwan and Hong Kong have less corruption issues than most western countries.

@tonywilson4713 France's subs were diesel powered, while the US subs are nuclear. Plus, there is probably more advance, classified hardware in American subs than what France spends on their entire Navy.

@lucamckenn5932 Numbers has it's advantages. Why do you think the UN couldn't defeat China in Korea?
68
@spookyghostwriter3110 Early 1950s Taiwan was a dictatorship, so my point still stands.
53
@archstanton6102 Thanks. That was a brain fart.

@SalehSingħ66 The difference is the rule of law. In America, you can sue if someone defraud you. In China, the fraudsters have government connections, so you go to jail if you complain too much.
7
@Mike-em5vh It wasn't a victory. It was a stalemate. The UN outclassed the Chinese forces in weaponry, but Chinese numbers and tactics were still able to push UN forces out of North Korea. Numbers matter.

@tianwong152 If corruption is "de facto legal" in the US, then why are foreign investors so eager to put their money into American companies and banks? Wouldn't it be safer to put their money in "safe and transparent" markets like Russia, Venezuela, and China?

@LarryWater What is the Taiwan government officially called? What language do they speak? Whose history do they teach?
4
@LarryWater Because no one was on the island until 1915? The Japanese just chose to move there and speak Chinese in 1915?
3
@JamesxKo The millions of Chinese soldiers pushed UN forces south. Not Truman.
2
@tonywilson4713 Ukraine weapon shipments are evidence that NATO standard weapon are in battle ready for the most part -- particularly those from America, France, and the UK.
1
@Paladinpal Not without sending more troops to narrow the Chinese numbers advantage.

HoLeeFook68 Every country has criminal gangs.

@tkh2944 China is gigantic version of Singapore? I pretty sure the people of Singapore would be offended by such a comparison as China is often used internationally as the benchmark of bribery. Yes, China the greatest system of law and order. Where police officers will arrest you for complaining how the state bank stole your money. Where prisons never fill because there is always a steady stream of prisoners to be executed without due process, so their organs can be sold. Where acting "too Muslim" is a criminal offense.

@mingyuhuang8944 Yes, America left Afghanistan after losing interest after two decades of nation building. If that makes you think China's corrupt military is comparable to the US Navy, then that is further evidence that Chinese education doesn't teach critical thinking.
1
@kevinsedwards Didn't the 300 end up losing in the end?
1
@9OClockRant When even the president and his cabinet are subject to the rule of law, then a country has a good justice system. Meanwhile, everyone on the Mainland is corrupt, but only rivals of President Pooh go to jail.
1
@kevinsedwards I don't disagree that quality soldiers are better, but ignoring numerical superiority is just willful ignorance.
1
@malamuteaerospace6333 War is about achieving political objectives through violent means. If the Chinese objective was to expell UN forces from NK, then they won. If their objective was a united Communist Korea, then they failed. As far as cost, Mao and his brainshwashed citizens were cool with the loses.

@vinceee_r 300 of the best trained Spartans will still lose to 10,000 Persians.
1
@vinceee_r Battle of Isandlwana. Rifles and cannons lost to a numerical advantage with spears and shields.
1
@vinceee_r The technological difference between Chinese and Western tech isn't remotely vast enough to make quantity obsolete. For example, if Westen air defense can knock down 99% of missles fired at it, then the Chinese will just send 200 missiles and hit the carrier twice.

@kedabro1957 Moral relativism is how immoral societies justify their immortality. The Chinese Communist Party has fooled their people into accepting extreme corruption by pointing out small amounts of corruption elsewhere in order to make Chinese citizens think corruption is normal. Russia does the same thing with violence.
1
@jntiger1981 Soviet made weapons aren't free of corruption.

@PapaCloguu The net benefit of the Chinese government artificially suppressing the wage of the Chinese worker has always outweighed the downside of dealing with corrupt Chinese officials. Unfortunately, due to Xi's economic mismanagement, China has been losing Foreign Direct Invest by 5-8% every six months.
