Electric cars and rockets aren't new technologies, but he was the first to make the cars affordable and make the rockets profitable. He also has a talent in marketing to give people too much confidence in his company's stock, and to make his ugly, ordinary vehicles seem cool and luxurious. However, there is a bit of Dunning-Kruger with Musk, who people think his success in his businesses means that he knows how to run a social media website and knows the best way to run the government.
