There is a cap to the amount of troops Russia can afford to recruit. Russians see this as a poor man's war to fight, while Ukraine is mobilizing the entire male population of a certain age.

Without any spare capacity, the starving country would have to pull resources from the agriculture sector to build weapons and to supply soldiers. This means the country will be dependent on Russia to be a reliable trade partner to keep the nation fed.

Because the government hasn't "won" yet, should we pull all military support and surrender the country to Marxists? Your spending numbers are also BS. The amount of military spending in Afghanistan is relatively small, especially if you note that fact the US has expensive military bases and active carrier battle groups across the world. It also not like the conflict is over. Al Qaeda and ISIS are operating within the country, so military operations aren't over. However, without support on the ground, the operations will be much less effective.
