LPR/DPR and PMC causalities aren't counted by Russia as causalities, so they are often used as canon fodder.

@conors4430 It isn't just about population size. If it was, then the Soviets would have conquered Afghanistan. However, the local population was more willing to send their young men to die for their home than the invader was willing to spend on vague objectives in a foreign land. Ukraine will continue to mobilize until the war is won, while Russians seem unwilling to accept another mobilization.

@robbrown4621 Russian military losses are hidden and rounded down a few decimal points, while the loses by the "People's Republics" and PMCs simply aren't counted. Since they aren't counted, their loses are more easily ignored by the public.

@petriew2018 Russia needs more anti-smoking signs based on the number of explosions that Russian State Media has attributed to smoking soldiers and sailors.
