Comments by "" (@badluck5647) on "How Banning Most Chinese Cotton Has Shifted Global Supply Chains | WSJ U.S. vs. China" video.
Politicians want to seem tough, and lobbyists want cheap, unethical supply chains. The compromise is for politicians to push a policy with good PR, but with little enforcement.

@Western_Decline The US government banned the use of prison labor to sell to the private sector, so obviously you been lied to if you think prison labor collects cotton. Prisoners make things like license plates as the state is the exclusive buyer.

@L98fiero A) It is illegal to force prisoners to work in the US. They choose to work to buy stuff. B) Convicts in the US are in prison making license plates because they broke the law and through due process got convicted. In China, they are being locked up and forced to pick cotton because they seem "too Muslim". C) Do the Chinese not have any morals? Are you seriously trying to justify slavery with false equivalencies?
