Diversity is a buzzword to justify picking someone less qualified.
13
I heard this argument before, and it seems like nonsense to shun others from the conversation in order to have a monopoly on what is said.

It is a pretty racist assumption to assume he got the job due to his skin color. Thomas and Jackson were actual federal judges which makes them more qualified than Kavanaugh or Kagen.
2
Sounds like Biden is deciding who is black again.

Diversity is pretty illdenfined legally. For example, why is race the major consideration for diversity when often kids of the same race can have much more commonalities than a white kid from the city than a white can from the farm.

@rickrose5377 Clearly, you didn't watch the video and went straight to the comment section. This is exactly what they are talking about if you listen to Thomas's question and the lawyer's answer. Why else is the lawyer going to such lengths to point out they are also letting in veterans and rural farmboys?
2
@rickrose5377 Maybe you should listen more instead of rushing to judgements. Your disparaging of Thomas sounds like you are against Affirmative Action as clearly you prefer a more qualified Supreme Court over a a more diverse one. Also, college test scores only matter with your first job. If you been working for 5 years and your resume's only accomplishment is 4.0 GPA, then you are going to be overlooked for poor students who had better performance in their careers.

Watch the video. The title is out of context.

Race is a pretty shallow definition of diversity as my white and black friends have way more in common than them with someone of the same race from rural Idaho.

@dr.rickbooty You either went straight to the comment section before watching the video or your understanding is shallow. Having racial quotas or choosing someone solely on race is unconstitutional. However, by claiming they are looking for "diversity", Universities are essentially doing the same thing. Thomas was asking for clarification for their use of the word "diversity" as it can be used for anyone as everyone is different. It also rather offensive that you assume African Americans can't get ahead without a liberal satisfying their white savior complex by eliminating them from competing with whites or Asians in an application pool.
1
@dr.rickbooty It is very condescending that you think minorities can't get ahead if they had to complete on even footing with white people. The Civil Rights Movement was intended prevent to qualified black people from being eliminated from job consideration for being black. Progressives have perverted it into eliminating white and Asian applicants from consideration, so black people are guaranteed the job. For example, Jackson is more qualified than many of her colleagues and she had a decent chance of getting her position even if Biden didn't eliminate all men and non-black candidates from the running. Unfortunately, thanks to Biden, history will remember her as a token instead of someone obviously deserving of her position. Marshall didn't get the job for just being black. He was a famous constitutional lawyer whose cases made groundbreaking precedent.

@rickrose5377 You had an option on the video with a clickbait title without watching it. How is that not a rush to judgement?
1
You keep giving out the facts, but they don't matter to people who just "feel" the lies to be true. I swear the MAGA people are in a cult and they refuse to ever question their dear leader.
