The bidding war on labor has caused a more expensive and less productive economy, and it is one of the leading causes of inflation which ends up eating away at the higher wages. This is why arbitrary government interference is pay doesn't work. Only innovation and competition actually improve living standards.

@JamielDeAbrew What nonsense are you talking about? Hardly anything is made custom even for the rich, so your whole point is irrelevant. In addition, most businesses including luxury products are intended to have a short shelf life, so consumers will have spend money on replacing them. The only thing that prevents this is competition that forces businesses to compete on durability. For example, the import of Asian cars to America forced America car makers to make their vehicles last longer in order to not lose sales. (This is true for standard and luxury cars).

@JamielDeAbrew You are arguing for a Marxist command economy where resources are distributed in the most efficient way by highly qualified economists. In practice, you get the failed economies of the Soviet Union, North Korea, and Cuba.

@JamielDeAbrew The majority of business executives don't trust workers to remain productive at home and they prefer the worker to be more easily accessible than a zoom call. The people making business decisions will not even factor in a second how much money this will save the government.

🤣🤣🤣🤣 It not "humanity". It's supply and demand. During the upcoming recession, the market will swing in favor of job creators and away from workers. With savings dried up and unemployment high, no one is going to care about arbitrary "living wages" or work at home life-balance. People will just take whatever is offered to them.

@kingnaga619 Unions have resulted in a decrease demand for American labor and that is why traditional Union jobs went overseas where the price for productivity is cheaper. Liberals think they can ignore market forces, but that isn't how the economy works.
