That really only applies to China. Countries under sanctions prefer cash.

@1mol831 You are mixing up high regulation with authoritarianism. India street vendors are affordable because they don't deal with costs like taxes, OSHA, and the health department

@1mol831 The point of regulations is to keep people safe. For example, unsanitary Indian hospitals are just as likely to kill you as the treatment. At least it is more affordable... Plus, India has more red tape than the vast majority of countries. There is just little respect or enforcement of the law -- especially for the wealthy and politically connected.

@1mol831 What is disrespectful is that you find it acceptable that nearly 5 million people die every year in India due to medical negligence.
