Protectionism - where special interests, xenophobia, and economic ignorance meet

What is the difference? Free trade will result in a global supply chain.

Back when productive farm land was the most important resource. Now agriculture is 4% of global GDP.

It is ignorant, though. Imagine America if alliances scared off Germany from invading Poland and Japan from invading China.

I agree, comrade. Trump with Make Russia Great Again!

It depends on who "they" is. Free trade had a net benefit overall and moreover with educated professionals. However, non-competitive union workers and uneducated, unskilled workers in first world countries are feeling left behind.

It goes both ways. Just look at the reluctance of Europe to sanction Russia after being economicly dependent on Russian energy. China will invade Taiwan, and most countries will do nothing.

The EU had a chance for free trade with the US for decades, but French protectionism prevented it. Now, free trade in the US is dead due to the dominance of ignorance from MAGA and progressive representatives in Congress.
