@dieafrikaansbear8995 Yes, but I doubt Europeans get free cosmetic surgery without a horrific injury. Insurance doesn't cover it.

@TonyDootjes America insurance has those type of loopholes too. I actually heard of botox as a covered treatment for depression.

@ilarious5729 European countries are cheaper, because all the R&D costs is passed to the American consumers, while socialist countries use their market share to negotiate not paying to cover those costs. An American single payer system would be a nightmare for European countries because Pharmaceutical companies won't be able to solely pass their costs to American consumers.

@dieafrikaansbear8995 The listed price is meaningless. Hospitals overcharge, so insurance companies feel like they are getting a deal when they negotiate the costs down 90+%. My friend got a hospital bill for $78,000. When he said that he didn't have insurance, they dropped the price to $3,000. Anesthesia is expensive, because it requires a specialized expert and causes malpractice insurance to go up.
