While the British aren't innocent, it seems like former colonies never take responsibility for their own inability to live in a pluralistic society.

@arifhossain9751 The British did leave the colonies without addressing ethnic and religious tesions, but that shouldn't be used as an excuse of ethnic groups of the former colonies to start killing one another. The real issue is Hindu nationalist and Muslim nationalist will commit atrocities, and then their leaders will blame the colonial powers instead of condemning their own nationalist.

I feel like you should be thanked more often for doing this

@Kiefsti Why am I Peter? Was I being sexist?

@arifhossain9751 To be fair, in America we still had Jim Crow laws at the time of India independence, so the country wasn't quite as pluralistic as it is now. (I blame the British, America's old colonial master.)

@Kevin-kf9ct I wasn't serious about blaming the British for segregation. They were already gone for over 100 years. You are arguing against a joke.

@kazzysenpai5906 To be clear, me blaming Britain for Jim Crow wasn't serious. However, I am not sure Britain can be on a high horse for ending slavery first. Britain only ended slavery after losing their American colonies in the American Revolution as the institution was no longer profitable without Britain's control of the Southern United States. It is like Saudi Arabia taking a strong stand against deforestation - in the desert.

@buckshot6481 The British weren't forming death squads to expell people. That was the Hindus and Muslims.
