Trump asked about shooting protesters ‘in the legs or something’. In 2020, Secretary Esper, "Obviously not." In 2025, Secretary Hegseth, "Why just the leg."

@josefarrington Trump never called the national guard on Jan 6. Pence did it.

@judemarketsyou5593 Why do you hate America so much where you want the army to fire on protesters who oppose masked men abducting people from their workplace to send them to a El Salvadoran gulag without due process?

@DickkRichards The website of the District of Columbia National Guard, "The D.C National Guard was formed in 1802 by President Thomas Jefferson to defend the newly created District of Columbia. As such, the Commanding General of the D.C. National Guard is subordinate solely to the President of the United States. This authority to activate the D.C. National Guard has been delegated, by the President, to the Secretary of Defense and further delegated to the Secretary of the Army. The D.C. National Guard is the only National Guard unit, out of all of the 54 states and territories, which reports only to the President." Pelosi has zero authority over the national guard.

@davemurray2880 Nancy was unaware of the organized attack on the capital on Jan 6 and didn't ask for extra capital police beforehand. Meanwhile, only the executive branch had the ability to call the national guard, which Trump chose not to do.

@seacradev5400 In a brief video, then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said, "I take responsibility for not having them just prepare for more," referring to U.S. Capitol security, not the National Guard. No member of Congress has the authority to activate the District of Columbia National Guard. Only the president, defense secretary and U.S. Army secretary do.
