Trump not paying federal income tax and his bank fraud isn't really related. Trump didn't pay taxes due to an accounting principle called tax loss carryforward, a provision that allows a taxpayer to move a tax loss to future years to offset a profit. Basically, Trump's casino businesses failed so badly that he was able to write off a decade of losses. This doesn't have much to do about him lying to overvalue his property for favorable bank loans.
