@appualliyanaa Baltic countries join NATO. Russia didn't attack Baltic countries. NATO didn't attack Russia. Georgia didn't join NATO. Russia attacks Georgia. Sweden/Finland join NATO. Russia didn't attack Sweden/Findland. NATO didn't attack Russia. Ukraine didn't join NATO. Russia attacks Ukraine. NATO isn't the aggressor. Russia is. Russians only don't like NATO because it removes Russia's ability to use its military to coerce its neighbors.

@michaelotieno6524 Self-determination, like the Chechens in Chechnya were granted when they wanted their own government? Transnistria, Abkhazia, and South Ossetian are all unrecognized puppet governments of Russia created to occupy and threaten Georgia and Moldova. South Korea and Japan are sovereign counties, and American troops are there to threaten their governments.

@matthewdice8567 Define a larger war. Putin could invade the Baltic countries under the assumption or reassurance that Trump won't honor America's NATO Article 5 obligation. Then we have three possibilities: A) Putin miscalculated, and America goes to war against Russa with Europe's backing, which will cost the lives of tens of thousands of Americans. B) Trump ignores America's treaty obligation. Europe goes to war without America, and one of America's biggest trading partners is devastated and shuns the US for generations. C) Trump ignores America's treaty obligation. Europe is paralyzed without US leadership, and Russia captures territory and destroys the NATO alliance. Without NATO's collective defense, Russia could bilaterally threaten each European country one by one into Russia's sphere of influence to the detriment of the US's economic and security interests.
