@markcosenza3274 The funds were allocated by Congress to be used to shelter asylum seekers. It would be illegal for the administration to use those funds on anything else, including hurricane relief, without Congress passing a new bill.

@markcosenza3274 They didn't "pay off student" loans. It was a money American citizens owed the government that the administration could choose not to collect using discretion. Congress gave the president. I feel like you just echo political talking points without using any critical thinking skills.

@markcosenza3274 Nope. The Supreme Court ruled that one law couldn't be used to justify wider student loan forgiveness. The administration instead relied on several other laws that gave the president power to forgive student loans in more narrow circumstances and for fewer people.
