theconformist I don’t need every last inch of storage space of the x5, and I don’t want to drive a vehicle that looks and handles like a truck. I don’t need to difference only acceleration between a car that goes 0-60 in 3.8 versus 5.0. I don’t need the difference in agility either. This is what happens whenever someone creates some sort of combination of two things. People can’t think outside the boxes. I need the functionality of an SUV. But I don’t want to drive something that looks like a Ford Bronco. I want a car that is fun to drive but I don’t need to live the fantasy (anymore) that I’m driving a race car. THIS is the target consumer ( not category) that the X6 is hitting. Not someone who wants an SUV. Not someone who wants a sports car but is being forced to buy an SUV. But someone who wants a true crossover, and accepts what that means.

No they didn’t. The car goes from 0-60 in 5 seconds, and is very agile. Comparing it to a Porsche Cayenne is a bad comparison because the design philosophy and driving experience that BMW and Porsche seek to give are very different. Porsche want you to feel like you’re driving a race car. BMW want to give you a spirited experience with a nimble car, but one where the car won’t get away from an inexpert driver. The reviewer simply wants a very particular sports car experience, and the X6 wasn’t designed for that...and the person driving it isn’t asking that from it.

Emperor Gad he’s right and you are wrong. I’ve driven an X6 for six years now. I also have a vintage M Roadster that I’m terrified to drive. At 50 years old it is now incredibly uncomfortable to get in and out of. But it sits so low to the ground that many other drivers can’t see you, and I don’t even want to think about the odds of surviving a major accident in it. The difference in drive experience between the two is subtle ( yes the roadster corners better, but the X6 has the same acceleration). However, it’s not worth the hassle. It’s nice not having to arrange for home delivery anytime you need something bigger that a golf bag.... and there are many times I need to carry things that won’t fit in 5 or 6 series.

@WCfanboy No. I don’t need you to tell me what I want or how to spend my money. Thank you.

Amazing how many reviewers simply don’t “get” these vehicles. The car isn’t made to serve a function or fit a box. It’s designed for a particular type of person. Someone who *needs* the size and functionality of an SUV, but doesn’t want a vehicle that looks and drives like a truck. It is a true crossover. If you want maximum SUV utility? Get the X5. If you want a pure sports car experience? Get a 4/5/6 series or a Z4. This car is for someone who wants some of both without having to buy two different vehicles.
