  2.  @brunol-p_g8800  Only because US reinforcements kept the French from collapsing into mutiny. The French forces fought valiantly but they were irresponsibly and catastrophically led. Same in WWII. French forces once again fell victim to poor leadership and poor strategic decisions between the wars.

  3.  @Max11B  I mentioned it. French generals showed up ready to re-fight WW1. Germans just did an end-run around French fixed defenses (Maginot Line) through Belgium. The poor decision to spread their tanks among infantry divisions rather than concentrate them into tank divisions left French forces unable to resist the speed and power of the German advance. Remember. The British got rolled up and were left to flee back across the Channel at Dunkirk. It wasn’t until the North Africa campaign that any of the Allies started to find their footing against the Germans.
