  1. Imagine if Finno-Scandinavia were one country. It would be one of the largest countries in the world as the geographic Finno-peninsula combined with mainland Denmark and the Danish islands and Iceland is already similar in size to Alaska and then Greenland on top of it would make it bigger than India. The country would have a population of 20 over million and have one of the largest EEZ zones in the world.

  2. A mountain would actually be beneficial for water too due to orographic lift. In fact, some desert places can probably ought to have a combination of inland seas created and build mountains by them to produce precipitation for more fresh water or even having the mountains built in the middle of seas to make more land as well.

Because those few areas are the moist areas of Australia that aren’t inhospitable wasteland or swamp groves where everything is trying to kill you or insanely windy cold damp jungles constantly pounded by the roaring forties or overly treacherous waters too dangerous for ships to sail. I personally like Australia and is one of the few places I would actually consider having a permanent residence in outside of the US where I live.
