Hmmm ... this could have been a much, much, different battle had those German Torpedoes worked. I would imagine that the Germans stopped using those magnetic exploders right then and there. If they did - that would be the one redeeming part of this engagement. Without such a clear indication that these things were a mistake - the Americans took a lot longer to realize this was a failed technology. Of course - the American torpedoes had other problems as well ... Anyway - thanks! This was a very interesting review of these series of battles. .
