Yeah. I read that 50 years ago and just recently bought another copy. Yes. That is one of the best books I've ever read. To my mind it is much better than the commando books but no one ever made a movie about it. Of course I'd have mixed feelings about what Hollywood would come out with. The Trailers I've seen for "Greyhound" don't fill me with a lot of confidence as to what they've done to C.S. Forester's "The Good Shepard". THAT is another really good book. Then there is Nicholas Monsarrat's "The Cruel Sea" which was made into a movie long enough ago that they didn't butcher it. Based on the lack of action most of the Words Navies had seen in WWI (other than the likes of Jutland) there was an idea amongst young men facing service in WWII that it would be safer for them to go into the Navy ... .
