When I were a lad, my father was gifted this black pup from a work colleague, who said it had come from the Russian Embassy. He became my companion from that point until I grew up and left home. He also fathered four pups, of which we kept two (one black like his father, another with all red-brown fur). He looked remarkably like this one. However, many years later, I saw a similar one, asked what it was, and was told it was a Samoyed-Alsatian cross. “Samoyed” would make sense if it really came from Russia.
