  1. Slavery. There was a court case in the UK in about the 1770s on the rights of black people. Some in the Colonies could see the writing on the wall. Slavery was outlawed throughout the British Empire by 1807, while the USA hung on to its institutionalized oppression for over another half a century. And some parts of that still exist today. Like the Electoral College. Which, if you remember, took the vote away from the popular choice, Hilary Clinton, and gave it to Trump.
