@JustChuck1982 If you engage in political lobbying, you cannot consider yourself a non-political organization any more. In a secular democracy, that would be grounds for losing any kind of charitable status.

Funnily enough, I think when the Nazis were asked where they got the idea of combining the office of head of State and head of Government into a single figure, they said it was from the USA. Parliamentary democracies tend to separate the two.

@JustChuck1982 I guess “soft corruption” is the best way to sum up the way the US political system operates. Just so long as you cannot directly tie particular dollars to particular votes, anything is fair game.

@JustChuck1982 You need a democracy and rule of law in order for a vote to matter. You’ve had a regime that has spent the last four years trying to destroy every last shred of credibility in those institutions. Somehow I think it’s going to take more than a vote, this time.
