Don’t be too fixated on which GUI toolkit an app uses. Remember, any GUI app on Linux can run under any GUI environment.

@M1America No, “-dev” are not “new versions” of packages, they are development packages. For example, to run an app which embeds Python, you need the libpython package. To build an app which embeds Python, you need the libpython-dev package.

Funny, a lot of Windows config involves Registry editing and PowerShell commands. Is that supposed to be very “intuitive”?

Just try removing packages, and see what happens. Even if you break the GUI, you can still log in via a text console and put back the GUI packages. If you accidentally remove the kernel and make your system unbootable ... well, you’ll know not to do that next time ;).
