  1. Trouble is, Windows is getting more and more expensive for Microsoft to continue maintaining, while the profits from it are getting less and less. Nobody wants to pay for an OS any more. And so you see corners being cut in Windows QA, and the introduction of WSL. I think at some point WSL will go from being an optional to a mandatory install. And then you will see the Windows kernel shrink away, until Windows itself becomes nothing more than a GUI skin on top of Linux.

  2. Even Microsoft has discovered the need for a proper command line, which is why it developed PowerShell. But after spending decades conditioning its userbase to be allergic to the command line, now it finds itself stuck in the trap of its own marketing success.
