We went hard, and we went early, while other countries were still dithering about, or outright denying there was a problem (∗cough∗ 🇺🇸 ∗cough∗). It was a painful, misterable time. But it paid off. Now we have our own fragile little bubble. And as long as we keep watch, we get to have a Christmas. And music festivals. And cinemas. And shopping malls.

Now that the virus is mostly under control within our borders, we are free to go out and shop and watch movies and attend festivals with minimal risk. Other countries that were not willing to undergo that kind of sacrifice, who simply insisted on having their liberty without understanding the consequences of that, are also paying the price, but in a more prolonged and painful way.

  28. Interesting also that he took a left turn up those stairs. Up on the right was the Senate chamber, with Senators still inside. By going left, he was able to lure the rioters away for long enough for the Senators to get away. Who is he? Nobody has named him. Seems that, in the heat of the moment and with his life on the line, he still managed to do his job.

  30. We now have two approved vaccines for SARS-CoV-2, with more on the way. Remember, these followed on from the work already done on a vaccine for SARS-CoV-1. By the way, we don’t actually know if the vaccine stops a person from being infectious. So if you are not vaccinated, you might be at risk of getting the disease from somebody who is. Have fun.
