  1. 23:53 parser generators are not something we use much nowadays. LR(k) parsers are all very interesting, but we find it simplest to stick to grammars that can be handled with an LL(1) parser. More than that, we find that hand-coded parsers and lexical analyzers are faster than automatically-generated ones. Since our compilers spend a lot of time in this code, we find it worthwhile to avoid the automatic tools for creating it.
