  2. Anybody else immediately thought of the mathematical definition of a “step function”? AWS seems to use it to mean “some component that performs one step in a workflow”, as opposed to the sense of “a function that changes discontinuously at a point”, like when you integrate the Dirac delta from -∞ to a given value x . Ah, it’s called the “unit step function’.
