  47. I call it “Lawrence’s Law Of Gun Debates” ... if these go on long enough, somebody is inevitably going to try to conflate the issue with cars. Here’s the difference: cars are constructive tools, not destructive weapons. A car can carry your shopping home from the supermarket. It can rush a loved one to the hospital. It can impress a date. Can a gun do any of these things? No. All a gun can do is blow holes in things. And people. Cars are designed with safety in mind. Even when you do hit someone or something, they are full of features to minimize the damage. Do bullets come with air bags or crumple zones? Of course not! When a gun is causing destruction, injury and death, it is only working as designed. A car is a constructive tool. A gun is a destructive weapon. End of story.
