  4. He did—he got the interim spending bill passed, with bipartisan support. Surely that has to be an instance of the Speaker doing his job properly. Ironic that that makes some in his own party hopping mad and demanding his ouster. Which is why I think it’s a mistake the Democrats agreed to go along with it. If they had resisted and let McCarthy stay on, he would be even more beholden to them in future. Which would no doubt enrage the “Freedom Caucus” even more.
