  3.  @jbcfamily4802  That doesn’t happen anywhere else where the popular vote is used. Why should it happen in the US? Just to add, it looks like there’s nothing in current US Federal law that says the states have to pay any attention to the popular vote when telling their Electoral College delegates whom to pick. It’s only Michigan state law that’s preventing Trump having his way here.

  4.  @TDfluffyR  STV is used in Australia and Ireland. That tends to favour individuals over parties. Here in NZ (and in Germany), we have a party-based system for nationwide, which is why we have a Mixed-Member Proportional (MMP) system instead. Various local bodies do use STV for their elections, though.
