People in 🇨🇳 have forgotten, or been made to forget, why Deng Hsiao-Ping introduced term limits in the first place: he saw the disorder and unrest following the death of Mao, which was directly due to the personality cult that had grown up around that one leader. He didn’t want it to happen again. And the way to do that was to ensure that no future leader could ever build up their own personality cult.

  2. 🇨🇳 has a weird system, where the Ministers are not the most senior leaders. Qin Gang was Foreign Minister, and in other countries that would be the title held by the most senior diplomat. But above the Ministers are a set of five State Councillors, and one of them is Wang Yi, who is the most senior diplomat. Why is it like this? Who knows ...
